According to an article on Yahoo! Sports, Washington Nationals pitcher and MOT Jason Marquis could miss as much as six weeks with elbow problems. From the article:
Marquis, who is 0-3 with a 20.52 ERA this season, got a second
Thursday that confirmed the original diagnosis of swelling and what the
said are “loose bodies” in the elbow.
He went on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday. The
Nationals are going to
bring up right-hander Luis Atilano from Triple-A Syracuse to replace
the scheduled starter Friday night against the Los
Marquis had a cortisone shot Thursday and will not throw for seven to
days, then will begin a throwing program.
Jason has been a gracious through-the-mail (TTM) signer. I understand he's very good about signing autographs in person, too. From what I've read, he's a stand up guy, who embraces his status as a Jewish Major Leaguer.
Here's hoping he's back soon and better than before.
