Major league clubs have called up four Jewish players to "The Show" in recent weeks.
This includes:
- Michael Schwimer, Phillies, RP;
- Ryan Lavarnway, Red Sox, C;
- Josh Satin, Mets, 2B;
- and, Dylan Axelrod, White Sox, RP.
Stay tuned to JewishSportsCollectibles.com for an upcoming posting regarding the collectibles associated with these newest Jewish Major Leaguers.
You may have heard this already, but Axelrod is a practicing Christian according to the White Sox media relations office.
Ron, thanks for the correction. As you know, for several years, The Jewish Sports Review listed Axelrod was listed as a Jewish. Like Jason Kipnis earlier this season, Axelrod’s rise to the majors brought kvelling from Jewish baseball fans. Like Kipnis, upon his promotion, Jewish baseball collectors learned that Axelrod does not self-identify as Jewish. I’ve specified this in the full article:l http://www.jewishsportscollectibles.com/2011/09/new-jew-review.html.
