The 20th anniversary Blu-Ray edition of A League of Their Own, the 1992 hit film about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL), the WWII women’s baseball league, was recently released. Three Jewish women — Thelma “Tiby” Eisen, Anita Foss, and Blanche Schachter — played in the AAGPBL. A fourth alumnae — Margaret Wigiser — is the child of an Orthodox Jewish father, although she doesn’t herself identify as Jewish. All of the women have baseball cards available to Jewish baseball collectors, and a host of other AAGPBL memorabilia exists.

During the 55-year history of the World Series’ Most Valuable Player Award, three Jewish players have won a total of won a total of four MVP trophies. This includes Larry Sherry (1959), Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax (1963 and 1965), and Steve Yeager (1981), who converted to Judaism after his career.
